HANOVER TWP. — Joan L. Krasnahill, 85, of Hanover Township, passed away Wednesday, May 5, 2021, at Timber Ridge Health Care Center, Wilkes-Barre.
She was born on June 18, 1934, in Larksville, to the late Walter and Florence (Wasick) Ripka. Joan graduated from Larksville High School.
She was employed as a switchboard operator at Bell Telephone prior to having children and primarily a housewife working part time in the local garment industry and other various jobs. Joan was a member of St. Robert Bellarmine Parish at St. Aloysius church Wilkes-Barre.
Joan was a member of St. Aloysius's PTA during her children's school years. Joan enjoyed attending the sporting events and activities of her grandchildren accompanied by Teddy, the love of her life, and later devoted caretaker.
She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Theodore Krasnahill; daughters, Cynthia Anne Phillips and husband, Robert, of Montoursville, and Mary Joyce Stefanowicz, of Warrior Run; grandchildren, Rebecca Ann Mallery and husband, Vaughn, Gabrielle Alyssa Philips, and fiancé Garrett Moser, Jared and Justin Stefanowicz; sisters, Florence Harbaugh and Linda Price.
The family would like to thank Dr. Susan Warner, Dr. Glen Finney, and the staff at Timber Ridge Health Care for their care in her long battle with Alzheimer's disease.
Funeral services will be held at 9:30 a.m. Monday, May 10, 2021, from the Nat & Gawlas Funeral Home, 89 Park Ave., Wilkes-Barre., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. from St. Robert Bellarmine Parish, at St Aloysius Church, Barney and Division streets, Wilkes-Barre. Interment will be at St. Mary's Cemetery, Hanover Township. Friends may call 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday evening at the funeral home.
