Marian Elizabeth Chalcraft (1929 - 2012)

Marian Elizabeth Chalcraft, 83, of New Berlin, and formerly of Jacksonville and Woodson, passed away at 9:55 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 24, 2012, at Heritage Health in Jacksonville.
Marian was born Sept. 9, 1929, in Morgan County, the daughter of Clarence E. and Hilda Cox Henry. She married Robert F. Chalcraft on Nov. 5, 1949, in Jacksonville, and he preceded her in death Dec. 24, 1980.
A 1947 graduate of Jacksonville High School, Marian graduated from Licensed Practical Nursing School in Jacksonville in 1966. She worked as a LPN for Modern Care Nursing Home in Jacksonville from 1966 until 1971 when she received her Administrator License. Marian then served as Administrator there until her retirement in 1993. Upon retirement, she enjoyed knitting, gardening, crafting, fishing and playing bingo. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in New Berlin, VFW Auxillary Post 1379 in Jacksonville and Women of Moose at the Moose Lodge in Jacksonville. She was known for being a high-powered working mom, who interacted greatly with the public.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; three brothers; and two sisters.
She is survived by two sons, Steven (wife, Martha) Chalcraft of Prescott Valley, Ariz., and Michael Chalcraft of New Berlin; two daughters, Deborah (husband, Randy) Shafer of Algonquin and Roberta "Bobbie" Chalcraft of Springfield; siblings, Doris (husband, Archie) Rippito of Orlando, Fla., and Mildred (husband, Fenton) Foster and Robert (wife, Patty) Henry all of Jacksonville; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Family will receive friends from 3-6 p.m. on Sunday at McCullough-Delaney & Butler Funeral Home, 714 E. Gibson St., New Berlin. Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. on Monday at McCullough-Delaney & Butler Funeral Home with the Rev. Kevin M. Laughery officiating. Burial will follow at St. Bartholomew Cemetery in Murrayville.
