It is with profound sadness we announce that Len was taken from us suddenly on Christmas Day by a heart attack. He leaves behind his life partner, best friend and soulmate, Robert Mackenzie, of over 35 years. Len will be deeply missed by siblings Joy and husband Larry of Ottawa, Dan and wife Susie of Bowmanville, Gord and Thom, Jim and wife Jo-Anne of Bobcaygeon, Kelley and husband Henry of South Carolina, and brother-in-law Warren of Hamilton. He is predeceased by his parents Art and Grace, brother Doug, and sister-in-law Ellen. Nieces and nephews: Jody, Gerry, Kevin, Daniel, Ryan, Michael, Stephen, Charles, Grace, Robert, and Andy, will remember Uncle Lennie for his infectious laughter and sometimes silliness. He greatly touched the lives of Vivian of California, Eileen (Munch) of Sault Ste. Marie, and many cousins. Len will be remembered for his vibrant devotion to the people in his life and his ability to make each feel special and unique. Leonard lived an enviable life filled with love for the arts, history, travel, and service. Len was a voracious reader and would passionately debate and defend his viewpoint on a myriad of issues. He was always conscientious about making the world a better place and was concerned about politics, the environment, and social justice. He had a creative flair and his sculptures and art work adorn many of our homes and yards. He leaves behind a huge void that we must all try to fill by honouring his desire to make our society a better place. A celebration of life will be held at a later time when we can gather to share the many wonderful times we had with our beloved Leonard. If desired, a memorial donation can be made to: The AIDS Committee of Toronto (https://www.actoronto.org/), The Kidney Foundation of Canada (https://kidney.ca/), SaveHospitalityCA (https://www.savehospitality.ca/), or a charity of your choice.
