Karen FRANKLIN Obituary

Suddenly as a result of tragic accident in Woodstock on Friday, September 10, 2021 in her 51st year.
Beloved wife and soul mate of David Franklin for over 26 years (the best part of him), cherished loving mother of Abby, James (d 2002) and Anna.
Blessed loving daughter of Mike (d. 2016) and Pat (Hooper)(d.2016) Cymbaluk. Dearest sister of Lawrence and Helena, Alan and Gail, Glen and Susan. Beloved sister-in-law of Rob and Cheryl Franklin. Blessed daughter-in-law of Herb (d.2020) and Sue Franklin. Cherished aunt of many nieces and nephews.
Graduate of Seneca College's Travel and Tourism program in 1992, Karen then worked at Elmhirst's Resort for many years in different roles where she met the love of her life. When they moved to Toronto, Karen became a commercial travel agent working for Uniglobe Travel Innovation Ltd. for a continuous 25 years.
In addition to working full time from home she cared for their growing daughters while building a reputation as an excellent highly regarded dependable employee. Karen was a dedicated Sunday School teacher at Grace United Church and an extremely respected active Scout Leader at 19th Grace. She completed her Troop Wood Badge Part II volunteer training in 2012.
When Karen and her family moved to Woodstock in 2014 they became an integral part of the 13th Woodstock Scout Troop. Karen took her Troop to 13th Canadian Jamboree in 2017 held at Camp Nedooae in Nova Scotia and helped organize the bus travel for many other patrols in her Council. For her continued especially good service to Scouting within her section, group and wider Scouting community, Karen was recognized with her Bar to the Medal of Merit in 2019 as well as her 10-year Long Service Medal which was truly a remarkable achievement and something of which she was very proud.
Following in her mother's footsteps, she crocheted many items for her family. Family was always Karen's first priority.
This world is a better place because of Karen's presence in it. A hole is left in our hearts. We will always cherish the memories we have. We deeply miss your loving caring spirit.
Funeral Service was held at the HIGHLAND PARK FUNERAL CENTRE 2510 Bensfort Rd., Peterborough on Saturday, September 18, 2021 at 2:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, Abby and Anna respectfully request donations to the Hospital Sick Children or The Humane Society of London and Middlesex.

So sorry for your loss! Karen was in some of my classes in public school from Maple Grove school and up. I remember being invited over to swim in the pool and had a great time. I remember her as being very kind. ❤

Our hearts breaks for David, Abby & Anna. I have known David for a number of years as a friend and professional acquaintance through our shared trade as Chefs. I had only met Karen on a couple of occasions, but I know from meeting her and my interactions with David that they were soul mates and best friends. They were also a team that loved their family and would do anything for them. This was so sudden, so tragic...we can't take a moment for granted in our lives. Karen will live on in all of our memories and especially in the hearts of her children and family. Our thoughts and love are with the Franklin & Cymbaluk families during this time of sadness and loss.

My husband and I were fortunate to have gotten to know Karen this past summer. A friendship I am sure would have lasted many many years to come. A very kind and wonderful woman. A life gone way to early.
