Jim Lyons Obituary
Murrells Inlet
Jim Lyons 74, died peacefully at home on Tuesday January 9, 2018.
Born in Queens, New York, August 13, 1943, son of the late Thomas and France Lyons. Jim worked as a Supervisory Special Agent for the Federal Bureau of Investigation. During his 25 years with the FBI, he was proud to have been a member of the FBI bomb squad, Supervisor of the Joint Terrorist Task Force and to have worked landmark cases such as the LaGuardia airport bombing (1975), the first World Trade Center bombing (1993) and Oklahoma City (1995). Following his retirement on July 31, 1995, he served as commander of the UN International War Crime Tribunal investigating the genocide in Rwanda. Jim was also an avid golfer, grill master and took great pride in his winning football picks.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Gail M. Lyons, son Raymond, daughter Jessica and granddaughter Jillian, as well as his two sisters Jeanette Margillo and Georgette Kirschenbaum, brother Frank with his wife Mary and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, January 17, 2018 at Goldfinch Funeral Home, 11528 Highway 17 Bypass Murrells Inlet, SC 29576.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 950 48th Ave. N. Suite 101 Myrtle Beach, SC 29577.
