Frazier-Mitchell Funeral Service, Inc. - Houston Obituary

Buelah Fountain was born March 8. 1921 to John Henry Fountain and Lillie Viola Washington-Fountain. She was the fifth child in this union of nine. Buelah married Roy Baker, Sr. on a Monday, December 4, 1939. This union was blessed with seven children.

At age 15, Buelah acknowledged Christ on August 28, 1936. On September 20, 1936 that 3rd Sunday, she was baptized and joined News Zion Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Rev. I J. Bradley where she remained a member for 84 years now under the leadership of Rev. Perry Smith. Buelah also considered herself as an honorary member of True Vine Baptist Church where she participated in the choir and other services under the leadership of Rev. T. Rancher and now Rev. Leotis Drungo. Despite her age and lack of transportation, she enjoyed attending the house of worship as often as possible. She received great joy singing in the choir, attending bible study and Sunday School.

Beulah loved cooking, fishing, quilting, planting in her garden, giving and driving until she no longer could. She worked in most of the restaurants in Delhi as a cook. From Sip N Nip, Dairy Queen, Sergeant Bar to the Little Grill Cafe and some homes. Buelah was truly a Blessing to her family and all those she met. Her Greatest Gift was The Gift of Prayer. She taught all her children to pray. She would say no matter what, get on your knees and Thank God. Thank God for everything, the Good and the Bad. Even in her last days with stage 2 Dementia. She got on her knees when she could, and she always gave thanks to Our Heavenly Father. She would shout out, “Thank You for keeping me and bringing me this far!” She testified when we went to church. She was not ashamed of God.

Buelah Baker departed this life and went on to eternal rest on June 6, 2020.  She was preceded in death by her parents (John Henry and Lillie V. Washington-Fountain), her husband (Roy Baker, Sr.) two children as infants (John and Mary),  daughter (Arimentha B.
