BECKER FUNERAL HOME, INC - Clermont Obituary

Claydean Gilliam Keith Hogan, 92 years old, of Clermont, Florida, passed away Sunday, September 22, 2019.

Claydean was born in Woodbury, KY, January 29th, 1927, to Isaac Myrl Gilliam Keith, a Homemaker and Henry Clay Keith, a Judge and Farmer.  She lived a wonderful life on the farm with her grandparents, parents and two sisters, Jennie Vaughn and Gwendolyn Clark.  She and her sisters rode their beloved pony, Blackie, to school each day to the one-room community school house called "Little Muddy".  The family was very close and Claydean modeled her family life on what she learned there.  Throughout her life, "The Farm" represented home and happiness to her whenever she visited.  As the three sister's families grew, they remained very close and that legacy continues today through their children.

She was a graduate of Western Kentucky State College and later earned her Master’s Degree from Western Kentucky University.  She began her career as an educator at Butler County High School in Morgantown, KY as a Home Economics Teacher.  She and her husband, Turner, and their three children moved to Clermont in 1959 and she began teaching at Clermont High School. Claydean taught as the Home Economics teacher and later, began teaching Fourth Grade at Clermont Elementary School. The family moved to Atlanta in 1970, where their fourth child, Todd, was born.  They returned to Clermont in 1980, where Claydean taught as a Kindergarten teacher and returned to the Fourth Grade after a year.  She retired after 22 years as an educator and went on to lead a life filled with love and laughter with her family and friends.  She was a member of the Clermont Church of Christ, where her husband served as an elder, and always put God first in her life. She was a beloved Mother and Grandmother, devoted friend, and wonderful cook.  She will be forever missed.

Her husband of 57 years, Robert Turner Hogan and her oldest son, Turner Lynn Hogan, preceded Claydean in death.  She is survived by her children, R. Keith Hogan (Sarah) of Deer Park, TX; daughter Leslea S. Hogan of Clermont, FL and son, Todd C. Hogan (Jessica) of Tampa, FL and her daughter-in-law, Sharon Kennedy Hogan.  She was blessed with seven (7) grandchildren, Annaleis Soldau, Whitney Hogan, Joseph Hogan, Zachary Hogan, Sharlynn Hogan, Ava Hogan, Grace Hogan and four (4) great grandchildren, Katie Soldau, Kristin Soldau, Ali Soldau and Charlie Soldau.

The family suggests in lieu of flowers memorials to:  American Heart Association at https://www.heart.org or the Arthritis Foundation at www.arthritis.org.

Mrs. Hogan was my 4th grade teacher at Clermont Elementary. She was an awesome teacher full of kindness, grace, and beauty. I can still hear her as we lined up and marched down the hallway saying, step lightly, step lightly in that soft, lilting voice. She was so graceful that she seemed to float along beside us. My heartfelt condolences go out to you now as you celebrate the life of this very special lady. Im sure she will live on in the hearts of many who loved her.

May Gods peace and presence be felt as you experience the grief of such a loss. Claydean was full of grace and such a lady. She touched so many throughout her life. She will be missed❤
