EAST BANGOR
Lorraine G. Parry, 94, of East Bangor, PA, passed away Friday, Jan. 24, 2020, at Gracedale, Northampton County Home, Nazareth.
Lorraine was born in Pen Argyl, PA, on Aug. 28, 1925, a daughter of the late James Gist and Eva Lilian (Pike) Gist Strunk. She was the widow of Earl W. Parry, who passed away in 1981.
Lorraine was a 1943 graduate of Bangor High School. She was employed as a forelady at the former Hillside Blouse Co. in Roseto and Bangor, PA, until retiring in 1979.
After retiring, Lorraine and Earl moved to Golden Gate M.H. Park in Pinellas Park, FL, until January 2014. While living there she was a member of the Music & Theatre club, a shuffleboard captain, and was one of the original members of the Park church, where she enjoyed singing in the church choir.
Lorraine was a talented seamstress, enjoyed golfing, was a cat lover and an avid card and bingo player. She was a member of UNITE, the garment workers union.
She was a member of East Bangor United Methodist Community Church in East Bangor, PA, where she sang in the choir.
Lorraine is survived by a daughter, Jane A. Gilbert, wife of Brian; a granddaughter, Julie Gilbert; a brother, Bernard B. Gist, and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Judith A. Parry; brother, Douglas Gist; and three sisters, Kathleen Avery-Swingle, Barbara Roberts, and Gwendoline Repsher.
A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 5, at 10:30 a.m., at East Bangor United Methodist Community Church, 136 W. Central Ave. Bangor, PA. Family and friends are invited to call from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the church. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Gaffney Parsons Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., 4 Lillian Lane, Bangor, PA. Online condolences may be offered at gaffneyparsons.com
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to East Bangor United Methodist Community Church, 136 W. Central Ave., Bangor, PA 18013.
