Steven Lewis Wingfield, 48, of 19 Wagon Circle, passed away Thursday, December 28, 2006, at his residence.

He was born March 3, 1958, in Waynesboro, the son of the late Winfred Lewis "Wimpy" and Mary Ann Coffelett Wingfield, who survives.

Steven served as a United States Army Ranger, attended Waynesboro Free Methodist Church, and was a former employee of Blue Ridge Beverage.

Survivors in addition to his mother include his wife, Sue Wingfield; a stepson, Shawn Hensley and his wife, Holly, and their daughter Rebecca of Grottoes; a stepdaughter, Stephanie Nice of Stuarts Draft and her children, Jarrett and Brandi, of Waynesboro; sister Tammy Shirley of Stuarts Draft; niece Aimie Shirley of Stuarts Draft; great-niece Abi Sprouse; brother-in-law Randy Sorrells and his wife, Nancy; sisterin-law Sarah Tuck and her fiancé, Bill Spaulding, of Huntingtown, Maryland; sister-in-law Sherry Zwart and her son, Zack, of Boones Mill, Virginia, and her daughter Cassandra Van Hynning and her husband Chad.

A funeral service will be conducted 11 a.m. Tuesday, January 2, 2007, at Reynolds Funeral Service of Waynesboro with Pastor David Kurtz officiating. Burial will follow at Augusta Memorial Park with military rites provided by Stuarts Draft VFW Post No. 9339.

Active pallbearers will be Kevin, Mark, Gary and David Wingfield, Torrey East, and Randy Sorrells.

Honorary pallbearers will be Shawn Hensley, Chris Sprouse, and Jay Wilkerson.

The family will receive friends from 6 until 7 p.m. Sunday, December 31, 2006, at the funeral home.

Waynesboro Chapel of Reynolds Funeral Service is serving the family.
