Virginia Whittington Obituary

Virginia Matney Whittington
September 28, 1960 - February 21, 2018
Ginger Matney Whittington, 57, passed away February 21, 2018.
She was born in Springfield, Missouri, and raised in Olathe, Colorado. During her years in Olathe, she excelled in friendships, drill team, and theatre. She pursued her love for acting through college and for several years after.
Ginger married Michael Whittington in 1991, and they had two children, who are their greatest treasures. Ginger was a professional florist who shared her love of flowers by preparing the arrangements for many of her nieces' and nephews' weddings. Ginger hosted many special occasions for the family. She made sure her home was always welcoming with open doors, crafts, fresh veggies, and plenty of food. Ginger cherished spending time with her loved ones.
She is survived by children, Danette Whittington, and Derrick Whittington; children's father, Michael Whittington; father, Sherman Eugene Matney, and mother, Imogene (Joe) Cunningham; brothers, Dan (Bilinda) Matney, Frank (Jackie) Matney, and Fred (Susan) Matney; sister, Debie (Gary) Myers, and by numerous beloved nieces, nephews, and their children. Ginger was the most generous mother, daughter, sister, aunt and friend, who will be tremendously missed.
The service will be held Monday, February 26, 2018, at 2:00 p.m., at Callahan-Edfast Mortuary.
