I was lucky to have worked with Dan for many years at GSB, including the memorably intense battle with Trailer Train in the summer of 1988. Dan was a wonderful client and a wonderful colleague but most of all a profoundly decent and honorable man. His resume would have entitled him to throw his weight around or expect deference but he never did. Working with Dan was always a collaboration. I am glad he was active neatly to the end. So sorry to hear of Dan's passing, We enjoyed working with him at the Salmon Center.

As a young government attorney I was fortunate to have worked for Dan. He was my model of public commitment and family devotion. He was my mentor in legal matters and government affairs, but more importantly he showed my what it was like to be a decent man and a person who leaves the world a better place. His greatest gift to us all, together with Diane, is their amazing family. God speed Dan.
