Aaron A. Griffin Sr. NORFOLK - The Rev. Aaron Austin Griffin Sr., 84, of the 800 block of Craig St., departed this life Feb. 3, 2011. Born in Chesapeake, he was a member and former pastor of Saint Mary's Holy Mount Christian Church in Norfolk and he was a community servant. He retired from Norfolk Redevelopment and Housing Authority after 35 years. He is survived by his wife, Mary A. Griffin of Chesapeake; two daughters, Victoria D. Robinson of Carrolton, Va., and Rosemary Griffin of Chesapeake; a son, Donnell J. Griffin of Norfolk; 14 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. A funeral will be held at noon Wednesday at Bethany Baptist Church. Interment will follow at Griffin Family Cemetery. Viewing will be held from 3 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Pretlow and Sons Funeral Home, Chesapeake, where the family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. You may offer your condolences to the family at www.pretlowandsons.com.

Mr. Griffin was always respected in our old neighborhood. He was a great example of a good and decent man. A hard worker, who loved and provided for his family and who would do anything to help a neighbor. May God bless and keep The Griffin Family in this time of sorrow. But understand, you were blessed by God to have a man like Aaron Griffin Sr in your life for the time that you had. Cherish your memories and know that this was truly a man of God.
