Abel Azevedo Obituary
November 23, 1952 - November 5, 2013
Resident of Santa Clara
After a 12 year battle with cancer, Abel fell into the arms of God on Tuesday, November 5th. He fought a valiant battle and counted every day a blessing. Born in Terceira, Azores, Portugal, Abel and his family came to the U.S. in 1967 and settled in Santa Clara. He enjoyed the simple things of life; a good soccer match, a glass of red wine and his family. He is survived by his wife, Sonia and his precious daughter Bianca (Justin), His two grandchildren, Logan and Layla, were the light of his life. They brought him so much joy and love. He is also survived by siblings: Gabriel, Luis (Tania), John (Teresa), Maria (Gustavo) and Tony (Tammy). His many nieces and nephews will remember him as a strong, generous and caring man. He is predeceased by his parents Maria Alvarina and Abel. Memorial Mass will be held on Friday, November 15, 2013 at 11AM at St. Clare Parish, 941 Lexington St., Santa Clara. Inurnment to follow in Santa Clara Mission Cemetery, 490 Lincoln St., Santa Clara.

I have many fond memories of soccer trips with Abel and Sonia. He was such a nice man and he'll be missed by many. My thoughts and prayers are with the Azevedo's.

I especially remember your family when Bianca came to Catechetical classes to receive First Communion. We could not make the funeral services but be assured of our continued prayers. Dear Azevedo Family,
We offer our heartfelt condolences for Abel's passing. I remember meeting him back in elementary school when Bianca and Thuy An did projects together and became very close friends. My daughter was very fortunate to have Bianca in her life and the support and care of Abel and Sonia. Abel was a very nice man, worked very hard and loved his family dearly.
