I had the pleasure of working with Dr. Neerken early in my medical career when he provided desperately needed services to patients in the Newborn Intensive Care Unit. He was unfailingly professional, competent and compassionate.
His early retirement from medicine, at the height of his skills, inspired me to assess my own career, some twenty years later, and make enriching choices.
All who worked with held him in high regard. A life well-lived: well done, John, well done.

I worked with Dr. Neerken at Bronson Hospital in inpatient surgery for many years. He was a wonderful pleasure. It was a good day watching him make the decisions needed for our patients. He left quite a legacy behind him. He deserves all the good things said about him. Thank you Dr. Neerken RIP.

In the summer of 1978 Dr. Neerken removed all of the cancer from my husbands chest. We are both 69 years old now and enjoying retirement.
We are so very grateful to his care. RIP
