Not sure what to say?

I just learned of Alan's passing. I was in Pat Schmalenberger's Outdoor Ed. class with him, which may have been the beginning of his passion for climbing. I saw him last when he was teaching a climbing class at Touch of Nature where I was working. He always greeted me with a smile and great stories of the rocks. All my thoughts and prayers go out to his family and friends. Rest peacefully, Alan. You will be missed by many.

I remember talking with Alan one summer Illinois day at Draper's Bluff...I was belaying my soon-to-be-husband Tim...I said to him...did you really solo the second pitch of Southern Exposure...Alan just smiled...yeah, I was crazy...I just did humility...Alan, may you rest in peace. Thanks for leading the way for many of us. Barbara Schiller Stevens

rest in peace my friend.

condolences to the Carrier clan....Philip may not remember us climbing together with his dad when he was not yet a teen, but we spent time on the rocks in Jackson back in the 90's....

Thoughts and prayers to the Carrier Family...John Sommerhof,Edwardsville Illinois

Such a shock to learn of Alan's sudden passing. He was so bright and such a talented craftsman. We will miss his easy smile. Our condolences to Philip and Alan's family. A kind man, gone far too soon.

Rest in Peace Alan.

Our prayers our with the Carrier family. Alan will be missed!

I remember Alan from Winkler school, we met back in 1964 or 1965.
We shared a locker for several years at CCHS and were next to each other in graduation ceremonies at CCHS in 1977 as well as Lincoln in 1973.
I remember Alan as up beat - he seemed to have loved life.
I was thinking about him the other day when I was in the old neighborhood - drove by his house.
What a loss...
