Albert "Monte" Butler, 59, of Mapleton, Iowa, passed away April 20, 2013 due to injuries sustained in an automobile accident. Memorial services will be 11:00 A.M. Friday, May 10, 2013 at the United Methodist Church in Danbury, Iowa with Pastor Gary Fridley officiating. There will be no visitation. A private family burial will be held at a later date in the Onawa Cemetery, Onawa, Iowa. Arrangements are under the direction of Rush Family Care Service in Onawa, Iowa. Albert LaMonte "Monte" was born March 8, 1954, in Onawa, the son of Albert Kenneth "Kenny" and Helen Evelyn (Collins) Butler. He grew up in Onawa and graduated from Onawa High School in 1972. He attended Morningside College for three semesters. He worked for the Zenith Company in Sioux City, and was a clothing store salesman in Sioux City and in Omaha at Landen's Clothing. He then moved to California where he worked in clothing, owned an art studio in Laguna Beach, and worked in furniture sales in Palm Springs and San Francisco. In 2008, Monte came back to Iowa where he settled in Mapleton. There he worked for Bomgaars and in maintenance at the Maple Heights Nursing Home. Monte greatly enjoyed his nieces and nephews, loved all children, was very sociable, was a talented artist, and loved animals, especially his special dog Buddy. He is survived by his father, Kenny Butler and special friend Charlotte Patten of Onawa, IA; a sister, Christine (Bernard "Pug") Baker of Mapleton, IA; two brothers-in-law, Richard McArthur of Sioux City, IA and John Arndt of Mapleton, IA; and many nephews, nieces, great-nephews, and great-nieces. He was preceded in death by his mother, Helen; two sisters, Patty McArthur and Dolly Arndt; and a brother, Steve Docken.
