Albert Allen Peterson, 75, of Standard, and formerly of Spring Valley died unexpectedly on Thursday, November 28, 2019 at St. Margaret Hospital in Spring Valley


 


Funeral services for Al will begin at 11:00 AM , on Tuesday, December 3, 2019 at the Barto Funeral Home in Spring Valley.  Pastor Betty Delgado will officiate. Burial will follow at Valley Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation for Al will be held from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Monday, December 2, 2019 at the Barto Funeral Home in Spring Valley. Additional visitation will be held on Tuesday from 10:00 AM to time of services.


 


Al was born on December 26, 1943 in Spring Valley to Carl and Alma (Lust) Peterson


 


Al had worked for Illinois Department of Transportation out of the Ladd Facility until retiring. He was presently serving on the Standard Village Board. He was an avid Hall and St. Louis Cardinal fan.


 


Survivors include 2 sisters, Karen Derango of Mascoutah; Dorothy Nieslawski of Florida; sister-in-law Sharon Peterson of Spring Valley; 2 step sons, Charles (Cathy) Oliveri of Granville; Ronald (Sue) Oliveri of Henry; 5 step grandchildren; numerous step great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.


 


He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Charles Peterson; his life partner, Mary Oliveri.

I am saddened at the loss of Al Peterson and my condolences to his family. Al lived in the neighborhood east of me when we were growing up. There was a group of 5 or 6 kids that worked together beautifully. Al was the project manager and this group of guys built a basketball court at an intersection, a fort or clubhouse made of brick with rooms, a boat that could be taken apart and re-assembled to float in the pond by the dump and a tree house in the woods, some 30 feet high that could...
