Not sure what to say?

Thinking of you Catherine on the anniversary of your dad´s passing.

I worked closely with Ab at Celanese on adhesion of polyester to rubber. He felt that a deeper understanding of the phenomenon was required and set up a group with that aim, possibly against management´s wishes. It illustrated his doggedness concerning a subject that he thought was important. I also met Ab from time to time at McAlpine park, where he coached an adult soccer team. He was a real gem of a man. I visited him from time to time at The Cypress, where he lived his final years. One...

My last visit with Ab was a week or so before his passing. He seemed lonely, but stoic, only complaining about how long it had taken him to work the latest Observer Sudoku puzzle, something I could not even begin. He would have explained it to me had I asked, but I knew better. If Patience is a virtue he´s in Heaven on that alone. I´ve just Googled Sudoku skills. Here they are (interested or not): 10 traits of great Sudoku players: 1. A meticulous, methodical thinking process, 2. The...

Ab and I rarely argued, but when we did he always won, especially if math or a spreadsheet was involved. The term, 'a well-ordered mind' certainly applied to Ab.

Ab was always upbeat and cheerful. I could not tell if he was just being Ab-or Canadian.

I first met Ab in April 1972 when he hired me to work at Celanese. One very funny antidote was that sometime during the 1980's, I met Ab while walking the long hallway from the offices to the labs and he mentioned that he was having a problem with "printer overload". I said I'd drop by his office to see if I could help. When I got to his office he pointed to his printer and asked if I could help. There was a stack of at least 2 feet of paper on top of the printer. It was indeed...

My name is Evelyn Melton and I had the pleaseure of working with this fine gentleman for years. He was always king, proud, determined and inspiring. Love to his entire family and may God Bless each of you.

Ab sounds like an amazing man. I have only met him briefly. I didn´t know all his accomplishments, nor all of his huge wonderful family. My heart goes out to the remaining family.....special sympathy and condolences to Cat, Joel, Devan and Jamie

To Ab's family, I was a patent attorney at HCC in the 90's who grew up in Kingston Ont and enjoyed working with Ab. I do have a story about Ab's "organized office". But first I must tell you that my wife & I were walking tonight here in Seattle and started talking about cluttered offices. I told her about Ab's office. HCC was in patent litigation in the early 90's regarding tire yarn and we needed to clean out Ab's office (climbing Mount Everest was a less daunting task). I went to Ab's...
