Not sure what to say?

Alberta was a family friend of long standing, and a friend of mine, as well, during my time at Broadway B.C. while at SBTS. We now share another link, as I have been on staff at Berea Colege for 13 years. What a lady!

One of Mrs. A's less known acts of charity was to rent a room of her house to a newly married couple in order to keep the level of activity up. My wife and I were one such couple in the early '90s. The 2 years we shared with her there are amongst our most cherished memories. She will forever be alive in our hearts.

Deepest sympathies are offered to all who loved Alberta. May your memories of her full life and strength from the God of all comfort help you through this difficult time.

Alberta was an inspiration and her example encouraged others to expand their own efforts. She was always looking ahead and seeking solutions to sticky problems. Libby Culbreth (Berea College)

Louisville has lost a gem. I had the pleasure of knowing Mrs. Allen working on staff with the J.B. Speed Art Museum as well as Southern Seminary. She was truly one of the most selfless people I have ever had the pleasure to meet. And her smile was so contagious.

My mom is a resident at the nursing home where Alberta resided, so I would see her often while visiting. Even in her final years, there was a kindness about her visage that I will never forget. I know how much she did for our community and she clearly exemplified all of the best characteristics of humanity. She will be greatly missed.

Alberta is a true hero, who inspired me greatly. I was privileged to meet her and work with her when I was at Metro United Way. I still cherish the bottle of champagne and hand written note of thanks she gave me for nominating her as a community hero torchbearer, the year that MUW was tasked with organizing the Olympic Torch Relay. I can't believe she is really gone. But I know the great things she did for this community and the spirit of generosity that she instilled in so many people will...

It is beyond me how to express the loss I feel for my cherished friend, Alberta. I know you and the grandchildren also, have fond memories, love and admiration for her as well. You are in my thoughts and prayers and she will always be in my heart.
