View Video Tribute Alberta Mason Kinzer Baker, 91, died Friday, April 13, 2012 at her residence on Williamsport Pike. A memorial service will be conducted Wednesday at 2:00 P.M. at Mt. Nebo United Methodist Church with Rev. Donna Higginbotham officiating. The family will visit with friends Wednesday from 1:00 – 2:00 P.M. at the church. Oakes & Nichols Funeral Directors are assisting the family with arrangements. The family suggests memorials to Mt. Nebo Cemetery, c/o Melissa Greer, 1920 Ivy Court, Columbia, TN 38401. Born December 9, 1920 in the Shady Grove Community of Hickman County, she was the daughter of the late Marshall Walter Kinzer and Margaret Nichols Kinzer. She was a 1939 graduate of Columbia Central High School. On June 24, 1939 she married Carl Houston Baker, Sr. and celebrated seventy-two years of marriage in 2011. Mrs. Baker was a member of Mt. Nebo United Methodist Church where she had served as organist for over fifty years. A talented musician, she taught piano, organ and guitar for several years. In addition to her husband, she is survived by children, Carol E. Baker of Fayetteville; Carl Houston Baker, Jr. of Columbia; William Bernard (Jorgi) Baker of Redding, California; Melanie B. (Randy) Ford of Nashville; sister, Nellie Underwood Elder of Franklin; grandchildren, Blythe Nabors (Fritz) Mucke, Steven Houston (Tina) Roscoe; Chelsea Adele Baker, Mindy Quiroz; great grandchildren, Lance Kinzer Baker, Kristin Darlene Baker, Tyler Roscoe, Carl Mucke, Katharine Mucke; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by grandson, Jeffery Kinzer Baker; brother, Hubert Kinzer; and sister, Dora Wilbur Moore.
