Roommates, off-campus housing at Hoyles not there on a scholarship, I had to work.
She, Judy and I did extensive research on local restaurants and taverns and learned where the
cheap good stuff was. Like "The Sugar Bowl" one Friday evening we placed our orders and
Alice ordered a burger. Knowing her Catholic upbringing I said, "Are you a member of
the Reformed Catholic church?", she'd not remembered 'twas Friday... so she figured out
her church wouldn't want her to waste it. So she ate it. I don't think she enjoyed it.
Many other memories and adventures, some involved selling one textbook leaving us to
share 2 in Geography class for a beer and a burger at "Buggsy's". Freshman year.
That was 25cent beer night.

Alice, Judy Birkitt and I were "roomies" at WIU. For over a year. I have some memories to share of then and a few of since. I can't remember
Judy's married name or I'd contact her, too.
If these might be of interest, let me know. I'm at Aledo, Illinois 61231
Many good/fun memories of Alice and Jack, and Greg and Jeff when they were little.... by the airport!!

I taught with Alice for over 20 years at St. Vincents. She was a very dedicated and wonderful teacher. Alice and Jack were caring and faith-filled people. They made this world a much better place by their kindness and delightful humor. They will be missed. May they both rest in peace. My sincere sympathy to their family. God bless each of you..

A former neighbor on Howett Street and 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade teacher at St. Johns, Mrs. Potter is an all time favorite teacher and person. I was also forunate to get to know Jack a bit after he retired. Wondeful people whom I am sure will be greatly missed by all - especially the children who were lucky to get to call Mrs. Potter "mom" or "grandma".

Mrs. Potter was my second grade teacher at St. Vincent de Paul. She would let us bring in our favorite book from home to read to the class. I recently found my favorite book and was sharing this special memory with my own children. Such a special memory of a special teacher. God bless.

Greg and Jeff,
I had the privilege of working with your mother at St. Vincent de Paul. She was a loving educator to her second graders. I am sure you experienced and witnessed your mother's love in so many ways. Be assured of my sympathy and prayers.
