Alice Catherine Chambers Taylor, 74, Shelbyville, died Monday, February 8, 2021 at U. of L. Jewish Hospital in Louisville. A native of Shelbyville, she was the daughter of the late Willie and Ida Belle Jackson Chambers. She graduated from Lincoln Institute, Class of 1964. She worked for many years for Investors Heritage as a cook and was a dedicated homemaker. She also formerly worked for Logan's Laundry as a presser and for the City of Shelbyville Police Department as a custodian. She was a former member of the Order of Eastern Star, Bettie Morton Chapter 119. In her leisure time, she enjoyed reading. She was a devoted member of Bethel A.M.E. Church, where she served as a member of the Stewardess Board, The Lay Organization, Missionary and choir.
In addition to her parents, six siblings, Mary Willie Chambers, Annie Chambers, Lee Evans, Jr., Roy Evans, Ernestina Shouse and Martha Shirley, preceded her in death.
Survivors include her loving husband of 56 years, Robert E. Taylor, Sr. of Shelbyville; five children, Stacey Taylor, Robert E. Taylor, Jr. (Jerri), and Ida Marie Taylor, all of Shelbyville, Rev. Erika Taylor of Louisville and Jason Taylor (Beverly) of Shelbyville; five siblings, Pauline Evans of Lexington, Barbara Beach (John) of Shelbyville, Faye Russell (Cline) of Louisville, William Evans (Jean) of Versailles and Richard Chambers (Martha) of Louisville; two grandsons, Quentin A. Taylor (Annemarie) and Keshaun Hinton; two great-granddaughters, Clara Taylor and Adeline Taylor and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m., Saturday, February 13, 2021 at Webb Funeral Home with a wake 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery. The funeral will be livestreamed via Facebook at Webb FH Live and may also be watched live or at any time following the service at the funeral home website.
