Allen Taylor Jr., 83, of Port Orange, FL, formerly of Phelps, KY, passed away Saturday, July 27, 2019, surrounded by his family. He was born April 1, 1936, in Omar, WV, to the late Allen and Naomi Taylor. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his son, Rodney Allen Taylor, three brothers, William Perry Taylor, Kenneth Taylor and Gary Taylor; and one sister, Ann Thompson. A successful entrepreneur, he operated a number of profitable businesses during his lifetime in the Tug Valley area before retiring to Florida. He was also a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He will be greatly missed.
Allen is survived by his wife of 52 years, Sharlene Taylor of Port Orange, FL, four sons, William Allen Taylor of Columbus, OH, Glen Allen (Angie) Taylor of Belfry, KY, Anthony (Teresa) Taylor of Hurricane, WV, and Greg (Tamra) Taylor of Georgetown, KY. He is also survived by six grandchildren, Carson, Laney, Mackenzie, Skylea, Cross and Lindsey. In addition to his wife, children, and grandchildren, he is also survived by five brothers; Larry (Barbara) Taylor of Punta Gorda, FL, Keith (Pat) Taylor of Boise, ID, James (Sherry) Taylor of Lexington, KY, Robert (Becky) Taylor of Phelps, KY, Marvin (Mary) Taylor of Ocala, FL, and three sisters, Ruby Jean Francis of Morristown, TN, Brenda Marcum of Columbus, OH, and Diana (Dennis) Shaw of Fort Worth, TX, and a host of loving family and friends.
Funeral services will be held at R. E. Rogers Funeral Home in Belfry, KY, on Friday August 2, 2019, at 1 PM With Benny Freeman officiating. Entombment will follow at Mountain View Memory Gardens, Huddy, KY. Visitation will be from 6 - 9 PM Thursday night at the funeral home. R. E.
