Allison K. "Sonny" Bell, 78, of Main St., Spartansburg, Pa., died Saturday, September 7, 2019, at Corry Memorial Hospital.
He was born June 14, 1941 in Coatesville, Pa., a son of the late Allison G. and Lena Kauffman Bell.
Sonny was raised and educated in Union City, Pa., and graduated from Union City High School in 1959. He then went to meat cutting school in Toledo, Oh. Upon completion of school, he worked for Stockton’s Meat Shop, Armour in Warren and then for Quality Markets in Corry as a butcher. Sonny is most known for deer processing at Bell’s Deer Processing in Spartansburg which he owned and operated from 1969 to 2015. He also did white washing, pesticide spraying and fur dealing.
He attended both Valley View Mennonite and Beaverdam Mennonite Churches. Sonny was a member of the Spartansburg Sportsman’s Club, played softball in the South Erie County League for many years and helped start the YMCA wrestling program. He enjoyed trapping, hunting, fishing and gardening.
In addition to his parents, Sonny was preceded in death by a son, Timothy Bell and a sister, Reba Dickenson.
Sonny is survived by his wife, Constance L. Shambaugh Bell, whom he married October 12, 1963 in Spartansburg, Pa.; a son, Rod Bell of Spartansburg; a sister, Mary Coblentz and her husband Don of Townville, Pa.; and three brothers, Ruben Bell and his wife Marilyn of Waterford, Pa., Ronald Bell and his wife Susan of Union City, Pa., and Samuel Bell and his wife Patricia of Ohio.
He is also survived by four grandchildren, Ashley, Ryan, Dustin and Delaney; and many nieces and nephews.
Family and friends are invited to call at the Valley View Mennonite Church, 24313 State Hwy 89 & 77, Spartansburg, Pa., on Tuesday from 4 to 7 and attend the funeral service there on Wednesday at 11 am. Pastor Randy Carr will officiate.
Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery, Spartansburg, Pa.
