Not sure what to say?

I too remember Allyn's show on Rock 105, Welcome to the 90s. I tried to record it every Sunday when it came on. It brought such joy to a new kid in Jacksonville starting middle school with no friends to speak of. On a show where he just got back from Mardi Gras he said, "...It's amazing what people will do and show you for like 3 cent plastic beads. Here's "Where is my Mind" by the Pixies, and you know where mine's at right now." That was the first time I heard about...

Not a month goes by without me hearing this man's voice in my head as he introduced a lonely, alienated suburban teenage me to Polvo, Helium, Archers of Loaf, Cocteau Twins, Small Factory, Pavement, Sebadoh, Guided by Voices...the list is endless. Allyn Ball was my Internet. I never got to tell him any of this in person, but I'm sure that on some level he knew there were droves of us Welcome to the Nineties listeners whose musical lives were forever changed by his daring selections. I do not...

I was very fortunate to have met and learned from Allyn in October 2015 on the Carnival Valor. I'd heard so many good things about him, so when I heard he was going to be one of our comedians, I was excited.

I sat front row every night, knowing darn well what I was in for. Allyn roasted me a few times, but I laughed harder than I ever have in my entire life because of him.

Allyn, I paid attention and I was rewarded, thank you my friend. Ohana.

I was extremely blessed to have met such a wonderful person. While on R&R from Iraq, I had the opportunity to see Allyn Ball perform on a Carnival cruise. I was one of loudest audience members (as he pointed out) as his jokes had me roaring with laughter. It was also healing for me as I struggled with adjusting from such a sudden return from my tour in Iraq. He was as much as a comedian as a healer. Our thoughts and prayers go to his family.

So sorry for your loss We saw Allyn on a Cruse we took he had us laughing so hard We had to go back the next night and see him again and thank him He definitely had a big heart He will be missed

One of the first road trips I made, as a comedian starting my career in the 80's, was with Allyn. We were both stranded in a blizzard in a condo in Buffalo, NY...more snow & more snow! But we laughed all week...the good ole days!

So sorry for your loss...Saw Allyn perform in a Birmingham Alabama comedy club at least 10yrs ago and never forgot that night. Purchased his CD upon leaving and shook his hand. He liked my tattoos and called me "one of his people".
Rest in Peace
Those Who Pay Attention Are Rewarded
