Wilson Funeral Home - Tampa Obituary

A celebration of life service for Mrs. Alma R. (McNeal) Harris who passed away on January 6, 2020 will be held on Saturday January 18, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. at Peace Progressive M. B. Church, 2607 E. 24th Avenue, Tampa, Florida with Bishop Sylvester Robinson, Senior Pastor, Officiating/Eulogist. Interment will follow in Rest Haven Memorial Park Cemetery, 4615 E. Hanna Avenue Tampa, Florida.


Mrs. Alma R. (McNeal) Harris was born on November 4th 1933 to the late Mr. Henry McNeal, Sr. and Mrs. Atline McNeal in Tampa, Florida.


She was educated in the Public Schools of Hillsborough County and was a graduate of local High School. She was Store Manager at Lerner’s Department store and retired in the early 90’s. She was joined in holy matrimony to Leonard Harris. In her early 20’s she began her Christian journey with Jesus Christ. She joined Peace Progressive Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend J.C. Goins and she was a member of several ministries. She served faithfully at Peace until her health began to fail.


Mrs. Harris was preceded in death by parents Henry and Atline McNeal; siblings, Shirley Ann Bronson, Maxine Clardy, Jerry McNeal, Henry McNeal, Jr., Albert McNeal, Charles V. McNeal; grandson, Gregory Parks; nephews, Ronald Baker, Albert Perry Jr.; nieces, Margie Baker and Adeline Baker; great grandson, Davion Joyner.


She leaves to cherish fond and loving memories with her children, Rev. Robert (Sylvia) Glass Jr., Lavonne Gaynor, Sherra Killins and Maxine Graham; 12 grandchildren, Rev. CJ Gooden, LeAndra Padgett, Amber Bostick, Sherraine Glass, Bobby (Lisa) Lattimore Jr., David Joyner Jr., Antonio Joyner, Alicia Wilson, Sandrea Wilson, Tracee (Lorenzo) Ashley, Joe (Gina) Campbell and Candice Campbell; a host of great grandchildren, great great grandchildren and great great great grandchildren; sisters, Marjorie McNeal and Audrey Myles; niece, Mr. & Mrs. Ernestine Comer; like a daughter Rosita Baker; and a host of nieces, nephews; Alma will always be loved and her memories will be cherished forever.


There will be a viewing on Friday January 17, 2020 at Wilson Funeral Home, 3000 N. 29th Street Tampa, Florida from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. with the family present to receive friends from 7:00– 8:00 p.m. Friends are asked to assemble at the church on Saturday at approximately 10:45 a.m. for the service.
