Steger Memorial Chapel - Steger Obituary

Andree Joyce Hodson, nee Jeney, age 83, longtime resident of Crete, Illinois, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 15, 2020. An Intrepid explorer of life and love.  Beloved wife of 53 years to the late Loren M. Hodson. Loving mother of Eileen (Jeff) Baker and the late Laura (Luke) Anderson. Devoted grandmother of Jeney (Brian) Christensen, Lucas (Max) Otterson, and Loren (Dyana) Anderson. Devoted step-grandmother of Jessica Baker, and Melissa Baker. Cherished great grandmother of Peyton Boehning, Dylan Shampine, Keira Sprye, Oliver Christensen, and Gabrio Benegas. Dear sister of Carlos Hatfield and the late Ed (Fran) Jeney.

Andree retired from AT&T after 30 years covering Illinois Bell, SBC, Ameritech, and AT&T leaving behind many close friends. She then spent time working with the hot lunch program at the Crete School system, a rewarding experience. Andree taught basic sewing with the Girl Scouts, and she actively served in the PTO and PTA. Much time was spent at the family farm in Presque Isle, Wisconsin. She created a happy and lovely home for her family. Andree was loved by many and will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her. She lived with us a little while, an angel from above. She’s gone to heaven, whence she came but left behind her love.

Visitation will be held Saturday, January 18, 2020 from 1:00 P.M. until the time of the funeral service at 7:00 P.M. at Smits – Steger Memorial Chapel, 3045 Chicago Rd., Steger, IL. Memorial contributions may be given to American Cancer Society. For more info, please call 708 755-6100 or visit www.SMITSFH.com

Not sure what to say?

My sister, Joanne Lepacek, worked with Andi at the Chicago Heights SBC office for several years till she was transferred back to Joliet. Andi was so kind to Joanne and I met her several times at the Skyline Reunions, and going to Loren and Andi's 50th Wedding Anniversary with my sister, Joanne. I will always remember the lovely smile on her face and the phone conversations we had through the years after my sister's passing. Joanne passed away 9 years ago this January 26 and now they are...

I am so sorry to here the loss of this wonderful lady. Andi and I worked together at the phone co. Everyone loved her. Rest In Peace my friend. Prayers.

I just read on Facebook that Andy ( I didnt know her true name Andree) passed. She is by far an unforgettable loving soul. I send prayers to her family and friends who I know will miss her so much. Working with her at SBC, Ameritech was a joy, she always helped everyone. Always with a loving smile. Rest in Heaven dear heart.

I enjoyed working with Andy at the telephone company, she always had a smile on her face. I loved that after I retired I was able to see her at the luncheons she would set up for us at Skyline Restaurant those were good times. My Sincere Condolences to all her family, God bless all.

Carlos, very sorry for your loss. Remember you gals from the drive-in at Goodenow corner. I was a carhop back in the day! Sincerely, Velma Hameister

Loren and my Husband Don Engeln were friends for many years. I met Andee at Gianni's Pizza Place in Crete. The four of us were good friends in fact we were married on Nov 22 1958 and Loren and Andee married the following week. It seems like all of Loren and Don's friends were all getting married in 1958. I knew you children when you were little but as time went by we all separated. Sorry for your lost but you have memories of both of your parents that will forever be in your heart.

What a great lady!!! I did not get a chance to see her often but whenever I did she was SO sweet and kind to me and my family. She will be truly missed.

You were a great lady. You will be missed and remembered by me.

Joy was a joy to be around. She was a fun, loving, caring person. She will be missed. I'll sure miss her Christmas cards and the letter she always included. And the cartons she always added. Very special lady.
