Andy was my grandfather, and I'd like to say a few words since I could not make it to the funeral.

The last time I saw him was a few weeks ago, when I flew to New York for the weekend to say my goodbyes. Oftentimes we hope that someone passes quickly, and does not suffer. We talk about wanting to have had some warning, been able to say something, but when you're faced with that moment, there are no words to express all the different emotions running rampant in your brain.

He was a wonderful man, and put his heart into Westchester. My mom, Cookie Rosman, remembers meeting him at a volunteer luncheon years ago. Condolences and prayers to his family and friends.

We have all lost a great friend with a wonderful sense of humor and a deep regard for the people of Westchester We shall iss him.

It was a pleasure for me, as it was for so many, to have known this man. AOR was indeed the "compassionate conservative" that others have merely claimed or aspired to be. He took his duties to his country and to others far more seriously than he ever took himself, and he stands as an example than politics, despite its flaws, can be a noble profession.
