The family eventually relocated to Chicago, Illinois years later, where Andrew attended Chicago Public Schools. Andrew soon became a member of True Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church, under the leadership of Pastor James R. Hardy. Andrew was also known as Charles by his family and friends.

He was also known for shaking his index finger anytime he wanted to get his point across. He loved his family and was loved by them.
