Not sure what to say?

In the adjoining muddy, windy soccer field at Withers Elementary the coach guided her team through tactics and drills. Ann Melvin was a dedicated parent/coach for Catherine and Ann's team. She never missed a practice no matter her schedule or the adverse weather. She was an active and vocal parent for her children's education. She wrote as an advocate for the education of all children. Ann Melvin was more than a writer to those who knew her.

I am so sad to hear of her death. Please accept my condolences. I have many fond memories growing up and going to many horse shows at the State Fair with her daughters. I especially loved reading her columns once I was aware that she was a writer!

Ann Melvin,my dearest friend, was a dynamic woman who never met a challenge that she could not overcome. She was so very accomplished in so many ways but the thing that she was most proud of was her family. And well she should be.Her legacy lives on with them.

I loved Ann's writing and was delighted when I learned we were distant cousins in the Barton family. She was one of my heroes.

So sorry to read of Ann's death. I have fond memories of our days as "horse show" mom's when we sat together in the stands and cheered for our girls. Toni Hardy
