ANNE EWING

Anne's calm steering through the political storms for women's rights was an inspiration to me. She never was defeated; she just carried on with grace.

My deepest sympathies to Anne's family and close friends. She was the most patient, determined and gracious woman I've ever known, and her good works will continue to inspire us.

I worked with Anne for many years at DPLU. She was a joy to work with and to call a friend. Her knowledge, firm conviction for justice, and love of the environment were well respected by all. Anne made a difference in this world and she will be missed.

In the nearly 40 years I knew Anne, I was always astounded by the scope, subtlety, depth, and seamlessness with which she managed every project and group she led. Even when the social complexity or intellectual content was mind-boggling, she got people to create beyond their normal reach, while keeping the peace. She was a wonderful personal friend whom I will miss greatly.

I will always have wonderful memories of working with Anne at DPLU. Her wisdom and passion were an inspiration to us and she will be missed.

Courage, conviction, and burning patience, "whilst she burned she gave a lovely light." I worked with Anne on improving land use in North County at Endangered Habitats League after she retired. Her family will be in my thoughts and prayers. To her granddaughters and grandsons, you live in a better world for the good works she did. Her spark lives on within you.

We will all miss Anne and may flights angels sing her to her rest.

Back in the mid-70s, I had the extreme good fortune to work with Anne when she was president of the San Diego County National Organization for Women. In those days, I served under her leadership as vice president. From her example I learned many things including how to be an assertive and confident woman.
