Kinsey-Garrett Funeral Home - Royal Oak Obituary

Archie Franklin Berry of Royal Oak, Michigan (formerly of Sterling), went home to be with the Lord on March 23, 2019 after a sudden and brief illness.  He was 78 years old.

Archie was born to Rex and Pearl (Seder) Berry on February 17, 1941 in Melita, Michigan.  He graduated from Sterling High School in 1958.  Archie married his childhood sweetheart, Nancy Lee Pierce, on September 8, 1962 in Birmingham, Michigan.  He loved her since before he was old enough to know better than to carve her initials in the family furniture.

Archie was a dedicated and loving husband, father, brother, uncle, cousin and friend.  He was a man of few words, but of great actions.  Never idle, if you ever needed a hand with anything --plowing snow in the church parking lot, moving furniture in his big red trailer, pulling the engine out of your car, putting shingles on the roof, tiling a bathroom floor, walking your dog, picking you up at the airport, you name it – Archie was there without hesitation.  He could also cook a mean chicken dinner.   Archie enjoyed being out-of-doors, hunting and camping, taking scenic trips, reading Western novels, and playing games with his family and friends.

Archie is survived by his beloved wife of 56 years, Nancy; daughter Donna Lynn Berry; daughter Carolyn Sue (William) Stiteler; grandson Ryan (Laura) Stiteler; granddaughters Meghan Stiteler and Rachel Stiteler; “adopted-in-love” daughter Krystal Lee (Brandon) Lewis and grandson Trevor; brother Glenn (Betty) Berry; sister Connie (Lyle) Orr; nephews Virgil (Sue) Berry and Craig (Patti) Berry; nieces Shelli Berry and Onalee (Rob) Watson; and a loving extended family.

Archie’s funeral service will be held on Friday, March 29, 2019 at Judson Baptist Church (201 Harrison Street, Prescott, MI  48756) at 11:00AM with Pastor Doug Kennedy officiating.  Visitation before the service will commence at 9:00AM.  Burial will be in the Clayton Township Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Archie’s name may be made to Judson Baptist Church.
