A.H. Peters Funeral Home Obituary

Arnold “Arny” Bernard Krueger, age 71, passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 3rd, 2018, at St. John Hospital in Detroit. He was born to Otto and Ruth Krueger on November 28th, 1946 in Detroit, Michigan. He was a 1964 graduate of Harper Woods High School and went on to college at Oakland University where he met his wife, Susan. They married in 1967 in Grosse Pointe Woods and then Arny enlisted in the army as a Hawk Radar Technician. After his military service, Arny worked as a system analyst at ANR in Detroit and then spent the remainder of his career working in the field of computer science and engineering. Throughout his life, Arny remained passionate about his first love, audio. He was an early adopter of digital audio on compact disc and spent his spare time developing high performance speaker systems, testing audio equipment and participating in web-based audio conferences. He was a co-founder of the ABX company, that produced a double blind test instrument for assessing differences between audio equipment. Arny also enjoyed camping, canoeing, home improvement projects and participating in various activities with his church community. Arny is survived by his wife, Susan; his children Daniel, Joseph and Sarah; his grandchildren Noah, Eliana, Theo and Nadia, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Arny will be remembered in a private family memorial this summer in one of his favorite places.

Not sure what to say?

Arny was a constant force for reason and science in a hobby rife with superstition and dubious products. He was the consummate 'white hat'. He surely helped hundreds, maybe thousands of people over the years avoid being scammed. He will be missed.

You made a difference in the world of consumer audio by popularizing the ABX concept debunking the myths around audio. RIP

We never agreed when we discussed audio on the news group about anything other than interconnects, and he was a ruthless and relentless opponent there. Still, I am saddened by his passing - especially so young (yeah, 71 is young in this day and age). My condolences to his friends and family. The audio world will miss him.

Arnold was a cheerful person who had a fine scientific mind. At all times when it was my pleasure to be in his presence, I always felt that he was my kind of special. bright, intelligent, person. My blessings to his family.

A great man that left us a legacy in defense of reason and truth.

Condolences and respect from London, England, from another member of HydrogenAudio community.

Arny freely shared his knowlege, which was deep and detailed. He was a voice of truth in a branch of technology so fraught with myth. I treasure our interactions, appreciated his efforts and work, and his contributions to the audio community.

My sincere condolences to the family.

Rest in peace Arnold, and thank you for all the input you made to the world of audio.

You'll be missed over at HydrogenAudio for sure.
