Ashley Cowie, 21, of Orange Park, died when she was shot in the chest early Saturday. She was a student at Florida State University and a member of the Chi Omega sorority. She Cowie was homecoming queen in 2008 at her high school, St. John's Country Day School, and was majoring in interior design.

I am so sorry to hear about what happened. Ashley seemed like an amazing person, and from your facebook photos together I can tell you had something really special. She is looking down on you and will live on in your heart and through your memories. Never stop telling stories and remembering the good times you had together. My thoughts are with you in this difficult time.

We know the pain, anguish and devastating heartbreak you feel because just months ago we lost our son under very similar circumstances in Tallahassee (he was 24).
