I had the singular privilege to make the acquaintance of this remarkable woman in her later years both at Hickory Hill and in Vienna, where she visited her daughter Dardis and her grandchildren Austin and Margaret. Her life is truly to be remembered and — celebrated.

Barbara was a wonderful mentor and role model for me as I made my way in life after graduating from Bryn Mawr. Along the way, we became friends. I once asked Mrs. Dudley how she carried on through all of lifes trial and tribulations, she said you just do it, so when faced with something or other I would often ask What would Mrs.Dudley do?? I was very sorry to hear of your mothers passing. It truly is the hardest thing one has to endure loosing a mom.
I met her briefly in 1977 and she was warm, kind and gracious and she has left a wonderful legacy.
