Barbara Ann Bishop Russell

November 11, 1931 – June 24, 2018


Barbara was born to William David Bishop and Grace Ava Moore Bishop on November 11, 1931 in El Dorado, AR. She attended Ouachita Baptist University where she met Reuben E. Russell Jr. They married on January 21, 1951, and remained married for 67 years.


Barbara and Reuben lived in Pine Bluff, AR, before relocating to Texas to be near family. While in Pine Bluff, Barbara was an active member of First Baptist Church for almost 60 years. She enjoyed singing in the choir and helped with the Pine Bluff Sister Cities program. Barbara loved working with international families and served through the Home Mission board and local literacy programming.


She is preceded in death by Reuben, and her parents. She is survived by their children David R. Russell (Christina) of Maumelle, AR; Sue Russell-Carlson of Dallas, TX; and Julia Dombrowsky (Mark) of Grand Prairie, TX; 5 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sisters Martha Griggs (Arvis) of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, and Nancy Palmer of Spring Branch, TX.
