Longtime Soldotna resident Benjamin Heston Lowe, 60, passed away Sunday, April 8, 2018 at his home.

A private service will be held in his honor.

Ben was born Oct. 24, 1957 in Sebring, Florida. He enlisted in the U.S. Army on Feb. 26, 1976 and served as a Combat Engineer. He was honorably discharged on Feb. 25, 1979.

He moved to Soldotna in 1988 and worked for S & R Enterprises, retiring in 2016.

Ben was a Southern Baptist and enjoyed fishing and spoiling his great-nieces and nephews.

His family writes, "Ben was a very generous and loving man. He loved his family with every part of his being. He was willing to help all, even by giving the shirt off his back. He loved his job, but what he loved most was being there for family. He will always be remembered."

Ben was preceded in death by his parents, Edna Sieg and Charlie Odell Lowe Sr.

He is survived by his sister, Betty Moeller of Sylvester, Georgia; nieces, Joann Padgett of Soldotna, Jessica Thornhill of Valdosta, Georgia, and Brittany Bass of Tifton, Georgia; nephew, Justin Padgett of Orlando, Florida; great-niece, Mckinley Padgett; and great-nephew, Jasper Padgett, both of Soldotna.

Arrangements were by Peninsula Memorial Chapel in Kenai.
