Dr. Owens delivered me in 1954 and was the only doctor I knew during my childhood. When I was hospitalized in 1960 for pneumonia, the nurses overheard me tell my roommate that I wanted to marry doctor Owens. When he came by to do his rounds the nurses brought me out to the nurses station where Dr. Owens kissed me under the mistletoe. He asked what I wanted for Christmas and I said, "to go home!" And so he made that happen. Good memories of a good man.

Doc Owens was one of the finest men I have ever met. I worked with him over a decade ago at Leisure Hills. Specifically, I remember the day that we tried to set up Dragon Naturally Speaking on his computer in his office. I figured with his diction, if anyone could make it work, he could. In his frustration, he spoke to the computer, "This computer is dumb." The computer typed, "This computer is down". Over and over, he spoke "Dumb", as the computer typed, "Down". We laughed so hard that day....
