Labby Memorial Funeral Home - Leesville Obituary

Funeral services for Bettie Jo Matthews, 83, of Leesville, will be held at 3:00p.m. on Wednesday, September 18, 2019 in the Labby Memorial Funeral Home Chapel in Leesville with Rev. Rickey Robertson , Rev. M.C. Green and Terry Ward officiating. Burial will follow in the Oak Forest Cemetery in Leesville.


Visitation will be held Wednesday September 18, from 1:00 until service time in the Funeral Home.


Bettie was born on December 5, 1935 in Starks, LA to her parents, Clarence and Juanita Drake.
She passed away on Monday, September 16, 2019 at her home in Leesville.


She worked as a cashier in grocery stores in the community for many years, but first and foremost she was a wife,mother, grandmother and great grandmother who loved her family with all her heart.


Bettie is preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Juanita, her brother Norris and Sister Velma.


Left to cherish her memory is her Husband of 66 years, W.M. “Bill” Matthews of Leesville; Daughter: Sissy Green and Husband Mark of Leesville; Son: Sidney Matthews and Wife Paulia of Florien; Sisters: Norma Says of Starks, LA. And Idell Gibson and Husband Carlton of Starks, LA.; Brother: Quinton Drake and wife Nancy of Many, LA; Three Grandchildren: Shere’ Thaxton and Husband Deron of Alexandria, LA., Jason Green and Wife Jamie of Leesville, and Tanner Matthews of Florien, LA; Four Great Grandchildren: Aiden Thaxton, Braylon Green, Hadley Green, and Arabelle Matthews; A Host of Nieces and Nephews and one special niece and caretaker Vanessa Jones, and Caretaker Mrs. Faye Guydry
