Billy Gray Beasley age 78 of Galax, Virginia passed away Wednesday, December 4, 2013 at his home.

Mr. Beasley was born in Surry County, North Carolina on November 3, 1935 to James Robert and Myrtle McMillan Beasley.

Mr. Beasley proudly served his country with forty-one years combined service in the United States Air Force.


He is survived by his wife Donna Marie Beasley of Galax, Virginia; daughters and sons-in-law Cathy and Kevin Pauley of Peculiar, Missouri; Diane and Keith Smith of Mt. Airy, North Carolina; Tracy and Trusten Williams of Camdenton, Missouri; sons and daughter-in-law Michael Beasley and Jerry Beasley both of Beulah, North Carolina; Andy and Mindy Beasley of Newport News, Virginia; Mark Gilmore of Fort Hood, Texas; sister Helen Wood of Mt. Airy, North Carolina; fifteen grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be held Saturday, December 7, 2013 at 2:00 PM in the First Baptist Church with Pastor Sam Bartlett officiating. Burial will follow in the Felts Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday from 12:00 noon until time for the funeral service at the First Baptist Church. Military Rites will be conducted by the Hillsville VFW Post 1115. Moose Rites will be conducted by the Galax Moose Lodge # 733. In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to either the Joy Ranch Home For Children or to the First Baptist Church Handicapped Access Fund.

Donna, sure sorry to hear of Bill passing, my thoughts go out to you at this difficult time. But we know he is in the arms of our precious lord Jesus Christ.I wish I could be with you at this difficult time, and also send my thoughts and prayers to the rest of the family. Donna, I am so sorry to hear of the passing of Bill. He was such a gentleman and they are hard to find these days. I loved feeding him at BRCC and Church. He was always ready to lend a hand. You were such a sweet couple. My thoughts and prayers are with you during this difficult time.

Very sorry to hear of Bill's passing. He and I shared many happy times at Blue Ridge CC as well as USAF careers. He will be missed.

Bill was certainly a man who lived his faith. Thank you for being a mentor and an encouragement to me.
