Swartz Funeral Home - Flint Obituary

KIRBY, Bobby Don "Charlie" – Of Swartz Creek, died peacefully at home on November 3, 2021. He was blessed to spend his last days surrounded by loving family, caregivers, and the compassionate care of Absolute Hospice.


Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, November 6, 2021 at Calvary Apostolic Tabernacle, 1013 Hughes Avenue, Flint, Bishop Keith McKinnies officiating.


Burial in Great Lakes National Cemetery at 9 a.m. Tuesday, November 9, 2021.


Visitation 12 p.m. Saturday until the time of the service at the church.


In lieu of flowers, donations to Calvary Apostolic Church are encouraged.


Bobby was born in Kennett, Missouri on February 29, 1936 the son of the late William and Elva (Grogan) Kirby. Committed to his trade, he took pride in his career as a licensed plumber. He spent his free time as an avid outdoorsman mentoring young men in the skill of sportsmanship of hunting and fishing. Strong in his faith, Bob was eager to share the word of Jesus Christ and his teachings, leading many to find Christ, In his retirement Bob traveled from Michigan to Florida, to Missouri each year enjoying his friends, flea markets and starting bible studies in restaurants.


Survivors include his children Keith Kirby of Swartz Creek, Mi, Angela Golden of Grand Rapids, MI, and Bobbie (Doug) Huizen of Grand Rapids, MI, and David (Lana) Wurtz whom he shared a special relationship. Bob’s is also survived by his grandchildren Bradley Golden, Tyler Osborne, Nick and Brayden Huizen, and Zachary, Allison and Adam Wurtz; Great-Granddaughter Fiona Golden; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other family members and friends.


Bobby was preceded in death by his parents Elden Kirby and Elva Mae Pugh; siblings, Helen Ford, Carroll Belt, Jean Watson, Lucy Allen, Elmo Kirby, and Barb Anderson ; wife of 18 years, Frances Nadine (Allen) Kirby.


The family would like to acknowledge the special men in Bob’s life who will be pall bearers for the funeral, Anthony Crenshaw, Larry Ford, Zachary and Adam Wurtz, Tyler Osborne, and Dennis Minner. They would also like to give special thanks to Susan, Elaine and Shelia.
