Not sure what to say?

My great-aunt Jean had great wit, penetrating intelligence and was one of the most wonderful people that I have ever had the privilege to know. She defined for me what is best in humanity: boundless enthusiasm, curiosity, joy in life, and deep affection for others. I will miss her laugh, the merry twinkle in her eye, the card games (which she invariably won), and our discussions of books and history. She was an inspiration to those who knew her.

Although we did not know Mrs. Hazelton well we were blessed that we had the opportunity to meet her. We would have loved being able to get to know her more and we enjoyed the stories that Whit shared with us about her. May the peace of the Lord be with her entire family, we know that she will be missed by them all.
God Bless,

I never knew her full name was Bonnie Jean. I would have loved to have called her Bonnie Jean" because she was so "bonnie". How I shall miss our icy dips off the dock and the sparkle of her laughter. My condolences. Bob Barton, JPVIS

I have been very fortunate to have had such a special friend as Jean. The summer get-away to Boothbay Harbor was a chance to spend some quality time hearing about her latest adventures. She could spin a yarn and hold an audience. I wonder, did she ever master Italian?
She was a lovely lady, and great fun to be around. It was an honor to know Jean, and I’ll miss her tremendously.

I always enjoyed our trips to Maine and visiting with Jean. She was quite a story teller and her adventures would have been incredible for a woman half her age. I will remember fondly working on crossword and jigsaw puzzles and invariably being beaten at games of manipulation. She was warm and welcoming and I will miss her.

In the company of Mrs. Hazelton: conversation never lagged, the talk was always lively and the topics as varied as the Sunday New York Times. It was an honor to have known her.

yes, we are going to miss bonnie jean hazelton, but i am happy for her now after all these wonderful years here with the living, she lived a full life, fuller than most, and now she will be reunited with those who left before her. visiting her in arizona was nice but she seemed more at ease in boothbay, and always willing to swim with me in the frigid and refreshing waters off juniper point, even if mark wouldn't. this will be the year we get marky in the water. fare well mrs. H, see you...

My brother and sister-in-law Charles & Dayle have been good friends with Mark for decades. Over the last many years they have ‘reunioned’ in Maine along with Bonnie for those magical weekends in August. They would join me vacationing in RI directly thereafter – which is when I began to learn of Bonnie’s extraordinary life and even more extraordinary persona.

I always enjoyed (actually looked forward to) hearing of her latest accomplishments and adventures during our own August time...
