Bonnie Scaff Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Apr. 5, 2011.
Bonnie Jean Scaff, known by her family and lifelong friends as "BJ", was born on September 11, 1913 in Boise, Idaho to Roxie and Hugh Lawrence. After the family moved to Fresno, she attended and graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1931. Following high school, she attended and graduated from the beauty college in Fresno and worked as a beautician for several years. She married Mitchell Scaff, a farmer, on November 10, 1934.
She was a loving and supportive farm wife. She was active in the community and participated in the local PTA, Clovis Farm Bureau, election boards as well as supporting her husband's coaching of youth baseball in Clovis.
BJ's favorite activities were playing bridge with her friends, attending and hosting parties for the couples of their group of lifelong friends.
She grew up in a family of amateur musicians. Even though she did not play an instrument, she had a fine ear for music and encouraged her children to participate in organized music in school.
In the past few decades she became an active member of the Fresno Dixieland Society.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Mitch on January 3, 1979.
She is survived by her daughter Margaret Dale Pierre and husband Paul of Fresno, her son, David Scaff and wife Lois of La Crescenta, grandsons Mitchell Scaff of Altadena, Eric Scaff and wife Liza of Orinda, Dr. Daniel Scaff and wife Dr. Nayiri Scaff of La Crescenta, and great grandsons Dylan Scaff and Aidan Scaff of Orinda and Nathaniel Scaff and Colin Scaff of La Crescenta.
