Brenda Gay McCowan Rose


Brenda Gay McCowan Rose, age 74, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, December 31, 2020. Brenda was born April 29, 1946, in Nora, Va., to the Late Walter J. and Beulah Vest McCowan. She was a God-fearing woman who trusted her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by six sisters, Ethel, Glenda, Carolyn, Mildred, Mabel, and Edith; five brothers, Bobby Jean, Clyde, Earl, John, and Darrell; and special nephew, Roger Leon McCowan.

She is survived by her precious family, sons, Gregory Rose and wife, Donna, of Piney Flats, Tenn., and Chris Rose and wife, Ella, of Bristol, Va.; precious grandson, Matthew Rose of Bristol, Va.; precious granddaughter, Bethany Dawn Rose of Piney Flats, Tenn.; sister-in-law, Agnes McCowan of Nora, Va.; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who she loved dearly.

Graveside services will be conducted at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, January 5, 2021, at Bethel Presbyterian Church Cemetery, 19391 Bethel Road, Abingdon, VA, with the Rev. Jack Meade officiating. Those wishing to attend the service are asked to convene at the cemetery. COVID-19 guidelines are to be observed.

My husband and I send out condolences to the family. Brenda was a sweet Godly woman. We always enjoy talking with her. We remember the first time we met her and her brother. She will be greatly missed.

Our deepest condolences for the loss of Brenda. Such a wonderful and kind person. When she had to leave our neighborhood we were all saddened.. now we are saying goodbye and that´s the really sad part.. She will be missed...
