Not sure what to say?

Burt was one of my roommates at Dartmouth College. I only saw him once after graduation, and then we lost touch. My wife Marci and I send our deepest condolences to his family.

The death of my Duke Law School classmate Burt Albert acts as an unfortunate reminder that more good intentions founder upon the rocks of procrastination than from all other causes combined. During the past seven years, I have traveled through Roanoke on numerous occasions on my way between New Jersey and Harlan KY for visits with a grandson. Each time I passed by Roanoke, it occurred to me that I should stop to have lunch with Burt by way of appreciation for his assistance in filing suit...

Burt and I were best friends growing up in Sioux City. And while we rarely communicated over the years (most recently as Facebook friends), I will always value Burt's friendship, and remember with fondness (and laughter) our joyous youth. I am so very saddened by the news of his passing, and my thoughts and prayers are with his family.

We just heard this sad news. Burt's family is in our thoughts and prayers.

I am saddened to hear of Mr. Albert's passing. He was a wonderful, down-to-earth man. It was a pleasure working with him and I greatly enjoyed all the wonderful stories he would tell me, especially the one about him being on Jeopardy. Our thoughts and prayers to Melinda and the rest of his family.

I just learned of my friend and colleagues passing and I am very saddened. At the same time I am blessed to have known Burt. Burt was a lawyer who, if his client was saying something stupid from the witness stand, would call him on it right in front of the Judge. He knew that a parties credibility and his attorney's credibility with the Court is crucial. Plus, he just couldn't bear hearing something stupid without speaking up, no matter who was saying it. Burt I wish we knew each other...

I did not know Burt well, but I believe that the measure of anyone is how he reacts when someone needs him. I was the Roanoke Bar Assoc. Legal Aid conflicts lawyer for 2 years, which meant that I had to find someone to handle cases when Legal Aid had a conflict. These were pro bono (no fee!) cases and often had components of divorce and custody. Not easy matters. Burt was one of the local lawyers who we could call for help. In other words, when somone needed him, he stepped up! Better...
