Not sure what to say?

Dear Virginia and family,

I want to express my sincere sympathy and to let you know, all of you have been in my thoughts and prayers during this time. Burt was a remarkable man, I know he will truly be missed. My sincere condolences to all of you.

Uncle Burton was my fathers youngest brother and I have fond memories of his humor and gentle nature I will miss him.

I would like to offer my sincere condolences to the entire Hatlen family. While I didn't get to know Burton well, I did enjoy the few times we met through his wife, my cousin, Virginia. I am happy to have been able to share but a moment in Burton's distinguished life!

Dear Virginia and all of your family -- I was so sad to hear of Burt's passing. He was the epitome of a great academic and a wonderful person. He was a role model to so many of us, both in his field but also across disciplines and generations. We are so lucky to have had this time with him.

Virginia
and Family,
You have my sincerest condolences at this difficult time. Your
husband, your best friend, was a dear man of eloquence and compassion.
Virginia, you are in my prayers. God Bless you and your family.

Dear Virginia & family:

Our entire family is saddened to hear of Burton's passing. You may not recognize our names however, our father, Leo Preston, Sr. was in the room next door to Burton's at EMMC. Our father passed away on Saturday and it certainly was a difficult time for everyone. We so appreciated talking with you and comforting one another while there. Their obituary's were printed on the same day as well. Again, our heartfelt thoughts are with you and your family.

My deepest sympathies to Virginia and all of Burt's family now and in the days to come.
