Not sure what to say?

My earliest memory of Byrd, from the 7th grade at Baton Rouge Junior High School, is of an observant, thoughtful, and kind friend. Since our days there and in high school together, I've visited with Byrd at BRHS reunions and once in New Haven. I learned much from the obituary, but there's no surprise in learning he led a brilliant and accomplished life and career.

I am sorry to hear about the loss of your loved one.
May the love and compassion of our LORD be with the family and friends, during and after these difficult times.
(Psalm 23)

You will always be remembered after nearly 40 years of being best friends. My family loved you and your family.

I had the pleasure of attending both BRHS and LSU with Byrd, who was one year ahead of me. I especially remember that in 1960/1961 LSU sent the two of us to the United States Student Conference on Foreign Affairs ( or similar name) at the US Military Academy at West Point. Spending several days with Byrd was a pleasure and an experience. What a sharp mind! So sorry to hear of his illness and passing. Good work on the very information obituary.

You are in our thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.
