Daniel K. Regan Funeral Home - Montrose Obituary

Byron “Byke” Charles, 77, of Montrose, PA, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday,
August 3, 2019, at the Endless Mountains Health Systems. He was born on April 21,
1942 in Springville, PA, to the late Thomas Ira and Esther Janet (Smith) Charles. His
wife of 55 years, Barbara (Millard) Charles, survives.

Also surviving are his daughter, Karen Spence, two grandchildren, Christopher and
Brianna Spence, two brothers and sister-in-law, Gayle and Brenda Charles, Donald
Charles, two sisters, Joan Wood and Marlene Ladner, sister-in-law, Lynda Charles, many
nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his three brothers, Bob, Al, and Louie
Charles.

Byke was all about the “art of the deal”, he was always making a sale. He enjoyed going
to lawn sales, and mowing his lawn. Above all, he loved helping his family. Byke worked
his stone quarry most of his life, he retired from Bendix after 30 some years, and was a
faithful member of the Fairdale United Methodist Church.

A Memorial Service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, August 7, 2019 at the Daniel K.
Regan Funeral Home, with Pastor Nathan Weaver officiating. Friends may call on the
family from 9:30-11 a.m. prior to the service.

Not sure what to say?

May God bless you and your family in this time of sorrow.

Sorry to hear of Bykes passing. A real nice guy. I worked with him at Bendix. Knew Louie as well. The Charles family are real good people.

My condolences to the Charles family. My memories of Byke & other family members, go all the way back to the late 50's when he worked with my mom (Hazel Blaisure) at the Banner Shoe Factory. I was about 12 yrs old at the time & came & bought a horse from he & his dad. He was so helpful to my mom & I. I also have memories of his sister, Joan, & brother, Don. May your whole family be comforted at this sad time.
Sincerely,
Bev Welch
