Not sure what to say?

We got to know Harvey after marriage into the family. He was a personable and intellectual inspiration to us all. He (with Betsy) was always gracious and hospitable, whether describing Killimanjaro, sharing duck communications, science or other. Our donation to Sierra Club in his name keeps his spirit continuing to make the world a smarter and nicer place. Our deepest sympathies to the Palmer family on their loss.

I was one of Harvey's graduate students during the 1970's. He was an excellent teacher and a thoughtful advisor. His insight and experience were valuable to me in finishing my research at Johns Hopkins, and I shall always be grateful for that. As others have written, he seemed always in good spirits and ready to share advice with me and with his other students.

Harvey was such a gracious host and storyteller. My mother and I would occasionally go to his cottage at Fairhaven for cocktails, and he would always have the best selection of nuts, cheeses and crackers to go along with his incredibly interesting accounts of his life events. He always greeted everyone with a smile and a kind word. I feel very blessed to have known Harvey and wish Helen and the Palmer family my deepest sympathies in their loss. Jule Miller

Harvey was a special friend whom I shall remember with fondness. Always curious, kind and full of twinkles, he taught me a lot about science, and we shared many laughs and had much fun together. I will miss him greatly.
