Not sure what to say?

Unfortunately, I didn't know Cal very well as I was born in 64. I believe we met twice. By the time I was born Cal had started his professional baseball career and had left Centre Hall. He was and remains an icon in our small town. I have heard many legendary stories about the Centre Hall boys ie ... Tuck, Happy, Peanut, Hat, Major, and Ike etc. It is with great sadness that I write this message. The men of that era that grew up in Centre Hall are and always will be my heros.

just now came across cal's passing. cal and i were close in the 60's when he played for the pacific coast padres, in the off season he played on my softball team and also my basketball team. rest in peace cal and my deep condolences to your family

One of my favorite baseball figures, for his time in Buffalo and in managing Peninsula and Charleston, W.Va.

Ed--So sorry to hear about your Mom passing.
Take care...

My remembrances of Cal:
*Early 1950s watching basketball games between Ordnance Research Lab- my team-and Center Hall-Jim Settle, Ike Orwig, Bill Miller (?).
* Center Hall basketball team playing for State Championship.
* Playing in finals for Penn State in NCAA Baseball World Series. A home run somewhere in the series.
* Talking with Cal in the 60's or 70's about minor league baseball players being so fast.
* While in Bremerton, WA in 1968,69, reading about Cal...

Mary and family, Very sorry to read about the Cal's passing. The good news is he is at peace and with Jesus. The bad news is the hurt that you and your family will endure. However, your faith and friends will help you through this difficult time. God bless.

Dear Mary and Josh-
I was so sorry to hear of Cal's passing. I contacted Steven with the news. He was also deeply saddened. I never had any concerns sending Steven to your house to play and remember so many of Cal's comical comments about the boys playing baseball.
Please accept my condolences -

Please accept my condolences for your loss. I rmember Cal when he was 'TUCK' and played for Centre Hall's Little League. My brother was the catcher on Harris Twp. team. I know that he will be greatly missed.
